Welcome to Traditions Academy of Dance. We are an R.A.D (Royal Academy of Dance), an I.S.T.D. (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) Syllabus Academy of Dance and a member of the prestigious Teacher-organization, Dance Educators of America.
Our studio is conveniently located with ample parking near downtown Whitby at 307 Brock Street North.
‘Traditions’ offers a wide range of exciting programs for the recreational dancer as well as the more serious-minded or pre-professional dance student. Having a dual-syllabus program adds significant enhancement to the dancer's technique! Current programs include: Modern, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Acro, Zumba, and the new R.A.D. Pre-School Program. Our highly qualified and experienced adult faculty welcomes students from the age of 2½.
The annual recital offers all of our students the opportunity to experience rehearsing and performing on stage. Students in our syllabus classes have the added opportunity of preparing for and doing internationally recognized exams. Our competitive students perform in a wide variety of dance forms at a number of local and international competitions.
RAD & ISTD
RAD Pre-School Dance Curriculum
“The Pre-School Dance curriculum aims to capture and nurture young children’s instinctive joy of movement and freedom of expression. Through participation, children should learn to move and learn through movement in a child-centred learning environment that encourages exploration, independence and social interaction. The Pre-School Dance is designed to enable children to participate in dance activities that are developmentally appropriate, helping to facilitate the learning of dance skills at a later age. Through participation, children can be motivated to continue with dance throughout childhood and beyond, acquiring the skills and attitudes necessary for leading healthy and active lives.”
